The world of Social Media is adapting and growing every day, changing the way people live and how they react to life.
How would you react if when applying for a new role you were told the employer was accepting applicants but not CVs - Would you give up and carry on looking elsewhere? Or would you open up your creative mind to how you can apply differently.
Unknown too many, Social Media can be a great tool when looking for that next step in your career. Recruiters and employers receive and read hundreds of CVs a day. Wouldn’t you like to be the person whose name they remember? Here’s how you can do it:
- Optimise your Online Presence – Social Media sites such as LinkedIn and personal Blogs can open your online profile up to more people than you would ever think of sending your CV over to. Use your profile as a marketing tool to sell yourself, instantly showing its audience your skills and best qualities.
- Be outspoken – Join groups/open conversations and voice your opinion. Recruiters and employers will be impressed by anyone who is willing to passionately get involved in a topic of conversation that they enjoy.
- Ask questions – Are you looking to make a brave step? If you want to move into a different sector or position why not connect to people who are already of that title. Ask them how they achieved their position and any advice they could give you to head in that direction.
- Interact with recruiters – Don’t be afraid to enter into conversation with recruiters, after all it is in their best interest to find you a new job. Connect to them and expand your connections/profile further.
So many people do not realise how much of a benefit their online presence can be. Do you feel like you're constantly applying for the same job over and over again - sending your CV off left, right and centre?
Get a little creative and make yourself known.
